Our Team

Brian Chewning

8th Degree Black Belt

Grandmaster

Grandmaster Chewning has been training in martial arts for over 30 years. He has been in business in Lexington since 1993. He takes pride in developing character and life skills in students that will enable them to overcome life's obstacles with commitment, dedication and perseverance. This is what he considers a true martial artist. The skills Grandmaster Chewning helps you obtain will enhance your ability to navigate life in a positive manner. He is a constant motivator and encourager that pushes you to do more than you ever thought possible. He delights in seeing his students' self-esteem, coordination skills and self confidence increase with each small accomplishment. He enjoys watching his students grow and become part of our martial arts family.

Kurt Stenzel

6th Degree Black Belt

Master

Master Stenzel is married with 2 children (a son & a daughter). Master Stenzel has been actively training with Grandmaster Chewning for over 18 years. He has been assisting and teaching classes for over 16 years. Master Stenzel was first a parent watching his son Jake attend class for almost 2 years and decided to try class. Since that day Master Stenzel has worked diligently and consistently, twice a week, to become a 6th degree black belt. He teaches with his heart and compassion and has the skills and patience to help you become not only a better martial artist but a better person.

Carrisa Chewning

5th Degree Black Belt

Mrs. Chewning and Grandmaster Chewning were married in April of 2014. They have five children. Mrs. Chewning has been actively training with Grandmaster Chewning since early 2011 and has been assisting with classes and boot camp since late 2011. Her children started right after she had surgery on her ankle, and she watched from the lobby for 7 months while she was recovering. As soon as she was able, she started attending both adult taekwondo and boot camp classes. She enjoys helping and encouraging others on their martial arts journey and enjoys watching them move up in rank through their hard work, discipline and dedication. She has a passion for working with women and teaching women's self-defense.

Simeon Ponder

2nd Degree Black Belt

Simeon started his training with Grandmaster Chewning in 2016 at the age of 16.  He says starting his training was the best decision he has made.  The dojang and the other students have become his second family and he doesn't know what he would be doing or where he would be if not for the school.  Simeon is great with students of all ages and brings great energy, knowledge and enthusiasm to the classes he teaches.

Stanley Tackett

4th Degree Black Belt

Mr. Tackett is married with 2 sons.  He began training with Grandmaster Chewning in 2014 after watching his oldest son train for a month. Two years later his youngest son and wife also began training.  In 2016, Mr. Tackett began assisting and teaching classes as a red belt.  He enjoys working with and encouraging other families, helping them along their martial arts journey.
